Have you ever heard of a smartweed with fleshy steel-blue fruit and leafy perfoliate ocreas (stipules)? Unfortunately, we now have to add this invasive exotic species to the list of eastern Massachusetts plants. We found it in the fall of 2006, though chances are it had been there unnoticed for a few years already.
