Like some of its woody relatives, bunchberry produces a fake "flower," which actually consists of a few tiny flowers surrounded by four large white petaloid bracts that make up the involucre (leafy wrapping of the inflorescence). The bracts are deciduous. Photo taken in Central Massachusetts
