Wild cucumber belongs to an entirely American genus. This is an annual fast-growing monoecious vine (staminate and pistillate flowers on same plant). The showy compound racemes are composed of staminate flowers, pistillate ones borne solitary or in small clusters in axils of staminate racemes.
