Leaves are less than 4 cm broad, rather symmetrical at base. Differently from those in American elm, veins are often forking (usually at least two pairs per leaf). Differently from Chinese elm (U. parvifolia), veins are reaching all the way to teeth. Flowers aren't pendulous, on short pedicels.
