Unlike other rhododendrons, rhodora does not have an actinomorphous (radially symmetrical) flower. Its corolla is deeply divided into three parts: one "upper" and two "lower." The upper part is three-lobed. No wonder that Linnaeus distinguished a separate genus Rhodora .
