Leaves (needles) of firs are flat, rounded at the apex, and arranged spirally, though appear to be two-ranked in mature trees. Terminal buds are also rounded (differently from Douglas firs, whose terminal buds are pointed). Some leaves in this photo are showing their glaucous undersides with prominent green midribs.
