Mt. Holyoke Range State Park, Amherst
In all anemones, involucre (a leafy flower wrapping) is remote from the flower, separated from it by a tall peduncle. In this species, there is both the involucre embracing all peduncles and additional involucels up on each peduncle. Fruiting heads are up to 1.4 cm thick, prickly with diverging styles.
