Spikes up to 12 mm long, with 10-30 perigynia. Empty scales at the base of each spike; scales hyaline, with green midribs, as wide as perigynia; perigynia broadly elliptic or ovate, pale silver-green. Lowest bract slender, only slightly longer than the spike.
