This habitat is extremely vulnerable, as during sunny, warm days it cannot endure any trampling. When one steps on dry lichens, they are crushed instantly. Regeneration takes decades, if not centuries, as lichens are extremely slow in their growth. They just disappear (together with lupines) leaving a gap of bare sand behind.
