May 25, Boxford State Forest, Boxford
This series of photos was taken in 2009 at a clearing that was supposed to become a landing for heavy forest-cutting machinery, but this area of Boxford State Forest was then saved from being cut down through the public outcry, and the violet must be still present at the same clearing. It was then identified as variety triloba. This variety is no longer recognized. It has become a synonym of var. palmata (as opposed to the other recognized variety from the southeastern states).
