The name for these blooms with large rays, "tickseed sunflower," seems to be very appropriate. It is indeed hard to believe that this wetland plant is a mere tickseed and not a sunflower. It is the involucre consisting of two dissimilar series, the outer bracts looking as green leaflets, that tells us this flower is a tickseed.
