Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain, Boston
Prickly ash was once growing in eastern Massachusetts. A hundred years ago it was found in the Blue Hills Reservation. We could not relocate it anywhere in its native habitats in eastern MA. The following are images of cultivated plants: two different Arnold Arboretum accessions, one of them, of Canadian origin, existed in Central Woods back in 2011; the other, of US origin (state unknown), was located in front of Mendum Gate in 2023.
