Doctor's Pond. Plants miniature, with capillary culms and tiny, few-flowered spikelets. Another coastal variety recognized by Fernald within the same range as var. ellipsoidalis, i.e., eastern Massachusetts to southeastern Virginia, characterized by capillary culms 1-10 cm tall and few-flowered spikelets 2-5 mm long. Fernald also provided translation for the epithet jejuna: starved.
