August 17, Fresh Pond vicinity, Cambridge
Var. laciniata is believed to be native in western and central Massachusetts as well as in some parts of eastern MA: in Middlesex County, where Cambridge belongs, and even farther east in Norfolk Co.; however, it is introduced to Bristol Co. and not known from anywhere farther east. Even though Cambridge is within the native range of this plant, in this particular case it is more correctly to describe the population as adventive, since it has been sown (not occurring naturally).
