August 20,
Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth
NE corner of East Head Reservoir, near Atlantic white cedar grove, where there is a cold water spring feeding the Reservoir. Photo taken in 2010 (the lily must have disappeared since, as Carolina fanwort has been rampant in the Reservoir). This lily had characteristically rounded petals. It was was also dwarf--only 5-6 cm in diameter and with a fewer number of stamens (just like the northern N. leibergiii, though with round leaves).
