This ornamental small tree often escapes cultivation and thus is known to be introduced to a few counties across Massachusetts--mostly western and central, but also Plymouth County in the east. Its native range is in Northeast Asia: central and northern China, Japan, Korean Peninsula, easternmost Mongolia, and the Russian Far East (Amur River Valley).
