Mountain holly hardly reaches Massachusetts, naturally present here only at the extreme southwest, in a small area within town named Mount Washington--a disjunct fragment of its rather large range in the eastern United States. Because it is at its northern limit in Massachusetts, mountain holly is state-listed (Endangered). It looks much like winterberry holly, only taller (typically forming a small tree) and occurring in drier and shadier habitats.
