October 1,
Mount Holyoke Range State Park, South Hadley
Native range of this introduced perennial spans across nearly all of Europe including the Mediterranean Region and European Russia; also across the Caucasus, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. Due to its preference of calcareous substrates (though not really obligate), it supposedly has affinity to walls, hence the Latin epithet, also translated as common name. It has been naturalized in northwestern and northeastern North America including northern New England and a few western and central counties of Massachusetts.
