Brought by C.S. Sargent in 1892 from Japan (Nurserymen's Association, Yokohama). This must be one of the first importations of Japanese walnut to North America (though according to A. Rehder (1954 Manual of Cultivated Trees and Shrubs), it had been introduced more than 30 years earlier, in 1860. Photo 1 of 10
