Chionodoxa is sometimes lumped with Scilla on the grounds that the two can form an intergeneric hybrid; however, Chionodoxa differs morphologically in the shape of stamen filaments, which are flat, forming a sort of a crown in the center of the flower. Differently from Puschkinia, which has a superficially similar structure at the center of the flower, the crown in Chionodoxa is not connate: the flattened stamen filaments are separate from each other.
