A flowering chestnut is a rarity; an abundantly fruiting chestnut is highly improbable to find. Yet here it was. We found a small opening in the woods all covered by chestnut prickly involucres. Too bad we did not spot the fruiting in the fall. Most of the involucres were of course empty by the spring time.
