Blue Hills Reservation, Quincy
The largest found chestnuts were less than 2 cm in diameter--not large enough to be viable. Typically chestnuts are somewhat flattened. Style and stigmas, the remnants of the flower, persist on young chestnuts. There are normally 6 stigmas.
