Photo taken in 2007. Both shrubby oaks (Q. ilicifolia at right) used to prosper side by side in this disturbed habitat--on rocks piled along an unpaved road at the West Entrance. While the more common scrub oak was still there as of 2012, dwarf chestnut oak disappeared due to roadside maintenance, the spot occupied by invasive plants. Photo 1 of 2
