Family Lasiocampidae, subfamily Macromphaliinae. Body extremely hairy. Head, front, and sides of thorax white, middle of thorax black. Abdomen white to gray. Wings pale to dark gray with white veins and lines. Postmedial line broad, almost straight. Wing span is about 3 to 6 cm. Flies September to October. Larva hosts are apple, ash, birch, elm, oak, plum, and other trees.
