June 21, Blue Hills Reservation, Milton
Accidentally introduced to North America (Ontario) in the 1910s; reached Connecticut in 1963; spreading from south to north, later was found in all parts of Massachusetts (including the Islands). Concentrations of these skippers may, at times, be unusually high. Feeding plant most often is the European cow vetch, Vicia cracca. Found in large amount on cow vetch, on Unquity Dumpster slope (photo 2005).
