September 12, Styles & Hart Park, Bridgewater
Immobile adult females, probably dead, on a tulip tree Liriodendron tulipifera. They vary in color, ranging from orange to gray and pink, with gray to black speckling. After an adult female dies towards the end of the season, it turns brownish and may stay attached to the branch. A rather large, multi-aged population of introduced tulip tree exists in this park.
