C. salebrosum is very similar to C. conicum, but often slightly smaller--its thalli dull above, up to 12 mm wide (vs. up to 17 mm wide in C. conicum).
C. salebrosum can be difficult to distinguish from C. conicum, but C. salebrosum has thalli with conspicuous grooves defining the lines on the surface
(vs. C. conicum having larger, very conspicuous, aromatic thalli often forming extensive mats, their surface with a prominent but ungrooved network of lines, smooth and shiny, flat, leathery, dark green, often with purplish margins).
