Spontaneous population at Christ the King Presbyterian Church. This species is distinguished from the common O. biennis by nearly glabrous plant parts when observed by naked eye and, according to Gleason & Cronquist (1991), on average larger flowers (2-2.5 cm vs. 1-2 cm) and longer sepal tips. However, in this case, these characters were pronounced only in the largest plant. In Massachusetts, the species has been reported only from Worcester, Franklin, and Hampshire Counties.
