Tiny square flower of watercarpet looks somewhat like a pattern in a kaleidoscope. Very short stamens with bright red, purple, or orange (later yellow with pollen) anthers are inserted on the 8-lobed purple nectary disc. The number of stamens is either 4 or 8.
