Photo 4 of 4. Upon completing growth, larvae exit their mines, fall to the ground, and overwinter as pupae. All larvae complete growth by the end of August (one generation per year). Damage to leatherwood is more cosmetic than detrimental: as a species depending on the success of its host, the moth never seriously weakens any plants.
