Upper Mystic Lake. Fruit--a top-shaped woody drupe with 4 hardened spiny horns, containing a single seed. During germination, one of cotyledons grows out of its apex and becomes photosynthetic. These hard fruits decay only slowly and can cause sever wounds when stepped over.
