October 6,
Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth
A large pile of backyard waste provided a headstart to all kinds of weeds spreading along Rocky Pond Rd. (a continuation of Bare Hill Rd.). One of more resourceful neighbors dumped their garden waste right to the side of the forest road and thus effectively introduced new nasty weeds, some of them formerly not present in the Forest. It is especially alarming, because one of the ponds is in close proximity. While these weeds won't survive long in the pitch pine forest, they would certainly be very much able to take root at the pond shore.
