Plants dioecious. Inflorescences in axillary racemes, 1-3-flowered, pedicels jointed. Perianth campanulate, tepals greenish yellow, connate at base. True leaves not green, positioned at nodes of major stems and subtending inflorescences and leaf-like stems (cladophylls or cladodes).
