September 13, Agawam River Trail, Wareham
Native range of this ubiquitous herbaceous plant includes most of Europe, Mediterranean Region, a large part of temperate Asia (from Asia Minor to Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, and China), and northwestern Africa. It is naturalized in temperate regions worldwide and present in every county of Massachusetts, though does not occur too often. Within the eastern part of the state, it mostly populates coastal plain, especially the ocean front: saltmarsh margins, drained banks of rivers and streams or merely ditches.
