Lily-of-the-valley is a plant with a tremendous area of distribution. Within its vast range, it is represented by a few varieties (or subspecies, or even species, depending upon researchers' views). In the Old World, its range covers much of Eurasia from West Europe to Japan ans Korea; in North America, there is a variety native to the southeastern United States.
