Each sporangium is sitting in the axil of a sporophyll (that is, leaf holding sporangium with spores). No separate strobiles are formed--there are just sterile and fertile areas on the stem. Leaves holding gemmas (vegetative propagules) are called gemmiphores. In this species, gemmiphores form a single whorl near the apex.
