A rarity in the pitch pine forest, Canadian hemlock has formed a group of a few trees on the shore of a small unnamed pond off Lower College Pond Road. (We nicknamed this pond "Military Pond," as it is circled by a belt of Juncus militaris , bayonet rush.)
