Comparison with poison ivy. The larger, lighter-colored leaves Note few blunt teeth at margin are those of poison ivy. In poison ivy leaflets are tapering both to base and apex, while in hog peanut they are wider, more or less rounded at base, entire at margin. Note the difference in the venation pattern: in hog peanut there are 3 major veins that start from leaf base, while in poison ivy there is only midrib.
