A shrub 3-4 m tall belonging to Composite Family sounds like exotics. This coastal species is indeed distributed in the tropical Americas! In Massachusetts it is at its northern limit. Sea-myrtle is dioecious: the one with whitish flowers in the front is pistillate, and the yellowish in the rear is staminate.
