An unexpected encounter: a solitary huge clone (a few meters in diameter) sinking in cattails at the graminoid fen in the Neponset floodplain. Cranberries are also hiding here amidst tall cattails. One may only try to imagine what the vegetation here used to be before the cattail took over as a result of disturbance and eutrophication.
