The small flowers have four sepals, four petals, a very short style, and four short stamens attached along margin of the flat four-angled disk, which is positioned on top of the calyx. The nectariferous disk is an important part of any spindletree flower: while attracting pollinators, it also distracts them from destroying ovaries or stamens.
