Dangleberry often grows in the shade of forest canopy, producing thin, large, soft leaves. When it occasionally finds itself in full light, it forms much smaller, stout, rugose leaves. It would even be hard to recognize, if it were not dangling blue berries, often just a single one left ripening on each stalk.
