Glory-of-the-snow is a bulbous early flowering plant from western Turkey that has escaped cultivation an naturalized to some extent in Europe and North America. The Swiss botanist Boissier named it after his wife Lucile in 1877. An alternative Latin name C. siehei Stapf was proposed later, in 1925. Some botanists consider the latter to be the valid name.
